Just finished a talk and workshop at my old school, Bruton School for Girls. They didn’t laugh at my jokes but they did come up with some brilliant plot ideas: like the mad scientist who makes his fortune splicing together different animal species, and then plans to do the same to his nephews, or the unloved hunchback whose life is made bearable by a devoted governess, until she runs off with his brother. Tragic. There were clearly a couple of great writers of the future. I was very impressed.
Thanks to Charlotte for arranging it all so brilliantly, and to all the girls who made it so much fun (for me at least). Oh and thanks for the wine and chocolates. Both will be polished off before the train pulls into Paddington.
